On September 14, 2026, the Sino German Cooperation Conference on Autonomous Connected Driving was held in Berlin, Germany. Officials from the Equipment Industry Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, the Industrial Policy Department of the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy of Germany, and the Road Transport Department of the Federal Ministry of Transport of Germany jointly attended the meeting and delivered speeches. More than 50 representatives from government departments, industry organizations, and key enterprises of China and Germany attended the meeting.

During the conference, both China and Germany focused on the technical standards, regulations, and type approval of intelligent connected vehicles, demonstration applications for road testing, vehicle data management and safety, V2X technology applications, and other related topics; Vehicle road cloud integration; Special discussions were held on key topics such as pilot projects, and in-depth discussions were held on the next stage of cooperation models and key communication directions. Both sides unanimously stated that the China Germany Autonomous Connected Driving Cooperation Conference has become an important platform for normalized information exchange and cooperation between government departments, industry institutions, and key enterprises of the two countries. Next, China and Germany will always uphold the concept of open cooperation, continue to deepen practical cooperation in multiple fields, actively promote the coordination and mutual recognition of standards and regulations in the field of autonomous connected driving, continue to deepen the application and data management of V2X communication technology, further strengthen international standard and regulatory coordination and linkage, and work together to address the common problems and industry challenges in the development of the global intelligent connected vehicle industry.

In April 2024, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, along with the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport and the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection of Germany, signed a joint statement on cooperation intentions in the field of autonomous connected driving, opening a new chapter of deep cooperation in the field of intelligent connected vehicles between the two countries. In the past two years since the operation of the new cooperation mechanism, China and Germany have relied on working groups on norms and standards, policies and regulations to regularly carry out technical discussions, experience exchanges and business docking, promote the continuous deepening and implementation of bilateral industrial cooperation, and contribute to the transformation and upgrading of the global automotive industry with the strength of China and Germany.
